About Moradabad

Also known as the ‘City of Brass’ or ‘Pital Nagri’, Moradabad is a city situated in the state of Uttar Pradesh. It was set up in the 17th century by Prince Murad, the son of Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan. It grew to become an important hub for industries and commerce, particularly for its brass handicrafts. The world renowned brass industry of Moradabad drives its local economy and exports.

Due to its booming brass industry, the city has earned the nickname of “Brass City”. The city also holds great historical and cultural importance like the Najibudaulah’s Fort which was built in the 18th century by Ghulam Kadir, the Raza Library which houses many manuscripts, inscriptions and books on Indo-Islamic culture, and Mandawar ka Mahal which was a gift from Queen Victoria. The city is also famous for many religious sites and recreational spots.

The winter months of October to March provide for the best temperature and weather conditions in the region which make for a comfortable time for sightseeing and exploring the city. The extremely hot summers are better to be avoided and it is better to plan your trip ahead of rains that can ruin the travel plans.
