About Alwar

Alwar is a city located in the northeastern part of Rajasthan. It is an important city for its significant history, heritage and traditions. It has been one of the oldest kingdoms in Rajasthan and was also a princely state under the British empire.

Alwar displays the vibrancy of Rajasthani traditions and culture through its costumes, folk music, dance, jewellery, handicrafts and textiles. The Alwar festival which occurs every year in February reflects the local culture, art and cuisine. Matsya Festival is another important festival of the region celebrated in the month of November. This month commemorates the history and culture left behind by the Matsya kingdom, an ancient kingdom of the region.

The winter months of October to March provide for the best temperature and weather conditions in the region which make for a comfortable time for sightseeing and outdoor activities. The scorching summers are better to be avoided and as one cannot enjoy the outdoor activities in the rain, it is better to avoid monsoons as well.
